In short, the answer is no.

The long answer is that in Australia, customers have the right under the law to choose any licensed mechanic to perform their service without voiding their warranty provided it is done to the manufacturer’s specifications.  At Euro Auto Tech, we have the qualifications and the latest diagnostic technology to enable us to complete a full manufacturer-specified logbook service for late model cars, using original parts and recommended oils.  This ensures your warranty is never compromised.

Where we have supplied and installed a part as part of repairing your car, and these parts have failed or found to be faulty within a 12 month period, we will replace these faulty parts and supply the labour to complete this work free of charge.

If, however, you have supplied the customer provides the parts for us to install or have has instructed us to source and install second-hand parts from a Wrecker, we naturally cannot warrant anything in this regard.

The simple answer is yes, because we love cars, old and new.

We especially love servicing and repairing older classic cars and have many regular customers who entrust us with their pride and joy.  We consider it a real honour to look after these elder statesmen and take special care to ensure that when they leave our workshop, they are not only safe to be on our roads, but are most enjoyable to drive.

Ideally, we would always recommend that customers use genuine/original parts in their cars.  However, we also recognise that the cost of parts make up a major portion of the final account, so customers are naturally keen to save wherever possible.

So whenever feasible, we are happy to recommend and supply good quality after-market parts which we feel will do just as good a job as the original parts, and we warrant these parts for 12 months.

There may also be times where using parts from a Wrecker are the best option, especially if you have an older, classic car and original parts cannot be easily found.

Regardless, we will always discuss and agree the best option with you prior to embarking on any work on your car.

As a rule, we always discuss repairs with you before we undertake any work so there are no surprises when you come to collect your car.  Should you require a written estimate for repairs and services, we are happy to provide this, but this naturally takes a bit more time.

In terms of whether we charge you to provide a written estimate, we take a common-sense approach.  If it doesn’t take us too long to diagnose the problem, then we generally don’t charge for this, especially if you’re happy to discuss the problem, or if writing up an estimate is not too time consuming.

However, if we have to spend a lot of time to pull things apart to find a problem you’re having with your car, then do the research to find the parts and write up an estimate, then naturally this cannot be a free service.

But we will always talk with you first about any possible charges you may incur prior to starting any work, diagnostic or otherwise, on your car.
